MAVFC Crews Respond to Serious Howard County Collision

On Sunday May 11th at approximately 1935 hours, (7:35 pm), units from the MAVFC were dispatched to a serious vehicle collision along the 17000 block of Frederick Road in Howard County. Rescue 1 and Medic 18 were first to arrive finding a single vehicle collision involving a utility pole with entrapment and injuries. Vehicle Collision with Entrapment on I-70

At approximately 0200 hours (2:00 am) on 04/27/2025, Rescue 1, Medic 18 and Ambulance 19 were dispatched for a vehicle collision with entrapment on I-70 eastbound at Bill Moxley Road. Units from Frederick County/New Market arrived to find a single vehicle into the woods with the driver trapped. Rescue 1 assisted with the extrication and packaging of the patient. Airy Volunteer Fire Company (MAVFC) held its annual Family Night to recognize 2024 member accomplishments and to install the 2025 Administrative and Operational Officers on Friday, March 14th. President Susan Hubble and Chief Anthony Russo presided over the evening and presented the following recognitions.

The Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company (MAVFC) is preparing to celebrate 100 years of fire, rescue, and emergency medical services to Mount Airy and surrounding communities. After several devastating fires in the early 1900's, the fire company was first created in 1921, but due to lack of commitment and organization, the company did not get incorporated to begin providing service until April 29, 1926. ...
